Relocation and installation of air handling units to enhance operational efficiency at HSE Building, Liverpool.

HSE Building, Liverpool

Project Details:

Overview:

HSE office located in Bootle, Liverpool, covers the counties of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.

Due to ongoing PPM issues, PCI were asked to relocate low profile ceiling mounted air handling units onto the roof plant rooms.
To relocate these units, we had to isolated and disconnect BMS cabling, drain down F&R LTHW and F&R CHW pipework.

Once units were fully isolated electrically and mechanically ceiling were removed out of hours to split ductwork, remove AHU’s and install make up ductwork section. Makeup section of the supply ductwork was then thermally insulated and ceiling reinstalled.

Supply ductwork in roof plant rooms was altered to allow installation of relocated AHU in an accessible location.

When complete all pipework and ducting thermally lagged. All services were then reconnected to AHU’s and brough back into service.

Challenges:

To reconnected F&R LTHW & CHW pipework, main pipework runs were drained down out off hours and stab ins fitted to service the relocated AHU’s.
